Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel, electric, and propane-powered forklifts
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, fuel, and cooling systems
- Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical and equipment-related issues efficiently
- Service and repair heavy equipment components, including masts, booms, attachments, and related systems
- Communicate directly with customers regarding equipment issues, repair recommendations, and service updates
- Maintain accurate service records and communicate daily with the Service Manager regarding work progress and customer needs
- Maintain the company-provided service truck, tools, and inventory in a clean and professional manner
- Safely operate equipment, lifts, and man baskets when required to complete repairs
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including rain, snow, heat, cold, and other environmental conditions
- Adhere to all company safety policies and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Manage daily workloads independently while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction
- Complete jobs thoroughly and efficiently, including working overtime when necessary to meet customer needs
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of forklift repair experience, including at least 1 year of field service experience
- Previous experience working with diesel, electric, and propane-powered forklifts
- Strong working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, fuel, and cooling systems
- Ability to diagnose and repair heavy equipment and related attachments
- Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in the field, often without direct supervision
- Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with customers
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, including rain, snow, heat, and cold
- Ability to safely work from elevated platforms and man baskets when required
- Willingness to work overtime as needed to complete repairs and support customer operations
- Dependable, self-motivated, and capable of managing workloads and priorities independently
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to safely operate equipment and wear required safety gear
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Travel Requirements
- Travel to customer locations throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, primarily from Maine to Virginia
- Overnight travel is required and may vary depending on customer needs and job location
- Company gas card provided
- Reimbursement for approved lodging and meal expenses
- Travel territory may be adjusted as the company continues to expand and add technicians
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation: $35-$50 per hour based on experience, qualifications, and ability to work independently in the field. Overtime available.
