Field Engineering Tech

Leidos is seeking Field Engineering Technicians to provide field inspections of utility poles across New England. This is an hourly full-time role with hours contingent on availability of work.

Responsibilities

• Travel around New England (CT, MA, NY, NH) to collect data, field measurements, and photos of utility poles.
• Meet with joint pole owners to determine appropriate attachment heights for new 3rd party attachers.
• Document maintenance concerns and collect necessary data for Leidos designers to develop solutions and fixes.
• Travel will be limited most weeks, but occasional overnight stays may be required depending on workload.
• Meet weekly goals and expectations set by supervisors and communicate progress effectively.
• Perform field-related work 95% of the time, including significant walking in various environments (urban, rural, backyard pole lines, private properties, and Transmission and Distribution Right of Ways).
• Work outdoors year-round, as weather and personal safety permit.
• Follow Leidos safety procedures and report progress daily.
• Potential to learn and perform design work as fielding skills develop.

Requirements

• High School diploma (minimum requirement).
• Preferred experience within the power distribution field and/or an AS/BS in engineering (or related STEM field).
• Prior experience in field work and distribution component identification is ideal.
• Ability to work in both team and independent environments and organize work to meet deadlines.
• Must be local to the area.
• Knowledge of NESC Standards and Client Standards is helpful.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to perform both field and office work.
• Ability to work long days in outdoor environments.
• Valid Driver’s License and ability to utilize a cell phone and 8MP camera.

Pay

Pay Range: $40,300.00 - $72,850.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered include responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
