About the Role

As a Field Engineer, Utilities Maintenance at Boehringer Ingelheim, you will actively contribute to the discovery, development, and delivery of our products to our patients and customers. This role provides the opportunity to collaborate internationally and directly contribute to the company's success. You will focus on equipment within one of the following specialties: Electrical, HVAC/R, or Boiler Operations.

Specialties

  • Electrical – Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs all facilities electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical/electronic components of industrial machinery, including security, communications, and alarm systems.
  • HVAC/R – Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs all facilities HVAC systems, including compressors, chillers, air handling units, and related equipment. Capable of troubleshooting and repairing low-pressure boilers/water heaters, coolers, freezers, refrigerators, and incubators.
  • Boiler Operations – Operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs the site steam and condensate system, including steam boilers, water softeners, reverse osmosis systems, and steam & condensate distribution systems. Performs equipment alarm system monitoring and notification while on site.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains utility equipment supporting production schedules and quality requirements.
  • Troubleshoots and implements corrective action where equipment experiences performance issues.
  • Identifies, determines, and seeks approvals for equipment upgrades to enhance performance and reliability.
  • Supports training of equipment owners and maintenance personnel relative to operations and care of electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Assists and supports engineering projects involving electro-mechanical applications in design, scope, performance parameters, testing, and implementation.
  • Follows Company policy and SOPs relative to financial, environmental health and safety, and training aspects.
  • Coordinates with Planner/Scheduler and supervisors to ensure work orders are completed within compliance windows.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by manager to support operations.
  • Utilizes CMMS per SOP to ensure proper documentation of work and compliance with preventive maintenance (PM) requirements and timelines, including development of PM requirements.
  • Keeps current on new technologies impacting self-knowledge and equipment.

Requirements

  • High school degree or GED required with a minimum of five (5) years maintenance experience in a manufacturing, operations, or similar environment.
  • Additional requirements based on area of focus:
    • Electrical: National Joint Apprenticeship Training - Journeyman Electrician License required. Supervisory or crew/job project leadership experience preferred.
    • HVAC/R: Trained and EPA certified Universal Refrigeration Technician. Supervisory or job project leadership experience preferred.
    • Boiler Operations: 1st class boiler operator license with experience in operation of high-pressure boilers.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
