Field Engineer - Mission Critical

Responsibilities
- Supports field operations on large-scale, mission-critical data center projects.
- Affiliated with site layout, benchmarks, control points, and verification of in-field conditions.
- Performs tape checks, sleeve/penetration location verification, and reference submittal drawings to validate in-place work.
- Serves as a liaison between trade partners and supports their needs with RFI resolution and interpretation of plans.
- Maintains and updates as-builts, redlines, and field drawings in coordination with VDC/BIM and QA/QC teams.
- Documents daily work activities, field observations, and safety audits.
- Supports QA/QC inspections and checklists for MEP and CSA scopes.
- Participates in daily huddles, weekly work planning sessions, and pull plan meetings.
- Supports Assistant Superintendents with daily manpower tracking and three-week look-ahead.
- Identifies field constraints and proactively escalates for resolution.
- Assists with progress photo documentation, quantity tracking, and logistical coordination (laydown areas, hoisting, deliveries).
- Interfaces with procurement teams to confirm delivery dates and field readiness.
- Maintains jobsite for housekeeping, access, and compliance with the site-specific safety plan.
- Supports LOTO, confined space, and hot work permit tracking under supervision.
- Uses Procore, Bluebeam, BIM 360, or other project platforms to manage RFIs, submittals, punch lists, and site documents.
- Performs reality capture tasks (e.g., 360° photos, drone documentation support, scan-to-BIM coordination).
Requirements
- 0–2 years of construction experience, co-op, or internship in a field-related role.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Proficiency in reading construction drawings, submittals, and specifications.
- Comfortable working in a high-tech, MEP-intensive environment.
- Basic knowledge of safety practices and job site protocols.
- Valid State-issued driver’s license and satisfactory driving record and vehicle insurance which meets Alston Construction liability coverage requirements.
Qualifications
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Skills
- Proficient in reading construction drawings, submittals, and specifications.
- Experience with project management software (Procore, Bluebeam, BIM 360).
- Knowledge of safety practices and job site protocols.
- Ability to perform reality capture tasks (e.g., 360° photos, drone documentation support, scan-to-BIM coordination).

$50,000 - $70,000 annually
