Field Engineer
About the role
The Field Sales Engineer will develop a strong technical understanding of specified fastening products, establish relationships with key specifying engineering firms, influence designers, architects, and engineers, hold regular technical presentations and training seminars, support local sales efforts, ensure submittals are approved, and embrace and become versed in construction technology and future trends.
Responsibilities
- Develop a strong technical understanding of specified fastening products (under the DEWALT brand), how they are used in construction, and how they are designed in accordance with current building codes.
- Establish relationships with key specifying engineering firms in the territory.
- Influence designers, architects, and engineers to specify fasteners through regular scheduled visits, education, and technical communication.
- Hold regular technical presentations and training seminars for design professionals related to the design of DEWALT products with a focus on details, product performance, characteristics, applications, and code requirements.
- Support local sales efforts from a technical level – including jobsite visits.
- Ensure that submittals generated by contractors are approved by architects and engineers.
- Embrace and become versed in construction technology and future trends influencing the specified fasteners business such as Building Information Modeling, Integrated Project Delivery, and construction software.
- Develop and maintain client records in CRM (customer relationship management) tool.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent qualifications.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in design engineering, technical support, or technical sales role.
- E.I.T / FE certified; Professional Engineering (P.E.) license preferred.
- Construction Industry / Jobsite experience preferred.
- A valid driver’s license.

Pay
The base pay range for this position in California is $74,400 - $95,000 per year. Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on payment may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
Schedule
Remote work in Northern California with up to 60% travel required.
