About the role
Selected candidate will be part of the Fleet Repair Facility (FRF), Supply Chain, and Tech Support Team with a primary responsibility of cable fabrication and assembly.
Responsibilities
- Cable fabrication consisting of following work instructions and cable drawings to prepare wires, perform wire harness subassembly, hand cut and strip wires, cut braid and jacket, make shield breakouts, crimp connector contacts, insert contacts into connectors, prepare identification sleeves, solder, torque, and perform continuity checks.
- Complete cable assembly per drawing, specification and work instruction requirements.
- As knowledge of the work increases, recommend improvements to product and process quality, cost and efficiency, and to the improvement of tooling and other factors affecting quality and productivity in the workplace.
- Provide estimates for cable builds.
- Aid in the build assemble of end-item deliverables based on drawing diagrams.
- Train technicians in cable fabrication.
- Aid with shipboard installations.
Occasional travel may be required (~20%).
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of cable fabrication experience to include: Fiber Optic cabling certified Copper cabling certified
- Ability to qualify for and maintain certifications and/or licenses to perform assigned duties.
Qualifications
Desired Skills:
- Cable fabrication experience
- Experience performing detailed operations by hand
- Ability to work independently and stay on task
- Ability to follow written instruction
- Familiar with J-STD-001 solder requirements
- Radio Frequency (RF) cable certified
