About the role

Join GBA Builders as a Field Engineer and support our growing Field Operations team. You’ll work alongside the Superintendent and other project team members to coordinate daily construction activities, promote jobsite safety, maintain project documentation, and support the successful execution of projects across the United States. This role offers hands-on field experience while developing your construction management and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate and promote a strong commitment to GBA’s Health and Safety Program.
  • Assist with Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), safety reviews, and training initiatives.
  • Support the supervision and coordination of subcontractors and vendors.
  • Order materials and schedule deliveries to align with project schedules.
  • Prepare detailed work plans and work packages.
  • Assist with quality assurance, equipment scheduling, and the interpretation of project drawings and specifications.
  • Verify quantity calculations and support field surveying and layout activities.
  • Compile and process labor timesheets while maintaining accurate project records.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external project stakeholders.
  • Attend project meetings and support additional project needs as assigned by project leadership.
  • Travel to and from job sites as needed to support field operations.
  • Operate a motor vehicle on behalf of the company as an essential function of the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, with 1-4 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification.
  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing jobsite conditions, project scopes, and team dynamics.
  • Initiative, dependability, and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Interest in pursuing learning and professional-development opportunities.
  • Basic understanding of emotional intelligence and its impact on yourself and others.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and stairs.
  • Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, precipitation, and wind.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and environments with typical construction-site noise levels.
  • Ability to wear and properly use required safety equipment and personal protective equipment.

Travel

This position requires full-time travel to project sites. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
