Field Engineer

Responsibilities

• Mets with project crews daily to review production schedules and confirm availability of materials, equipment, and resources.
• Collects, coordinates, and analyzes shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements, and project data throughout the project duration.
• Provides technical input for project work plans and schedules.
• Identifies potential risks affecting budget or schedule.
• Evaluates daily production, schedule, and budget projections to track project performance.
• Documents daily activities using approved methods and technologies.
• Notifies team members and managers of significant schedule changes and recommends solutions.
• Remits accurate project quantity input and controls using assigned project cost coding to ensure financial accuracy.
• Manages cost coding with company finance and accounting teams regarding employee time, materials, equipment, and subcontractor needs.
• Reviews project specifications for quality assurance at various stages of the project.
• Initiates and manages appropriate certificates, inspections, and other documentation related to construction production.
• Works with construction crews and engineering leaders to plan field layouts, ensuring utilities and commercial lines are marked before production starts.
• Coordinates subcontractor work methods, schedules, and crews as needed.
• Reconciles job close-out checklists with owner representatives and field crews at the end of the project.

Requirements

• Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering or Construction Management disciplines, or an acceptable combination of education and relevant experience.
• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Field Engineer or Project Coordinator, preferably in project engineering or heavy civil construction.
• Knowledge of construction equipment, techniques, drawing and specifications, building materials, and applicable standards.
• Proficiency in software used in the construction industry (e.g., Primavera Scheduling software, AutoCAD, SAP).
• Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
• Flexibility to work in both field and office settings.

• Pass the Labor Condition Application (LCA) process with the U.S. Department of Labor.
• Wage range: $87,000 - $95,000 per year.
• Employment period: October 1, 2026 - September 30, 2029.

Pay

The starting salary for this position is $87,000 - $95,000 per year.
