Field Engineer 2027 (Richmond, VA)

Responsibilities

• Support a crew, project, or plant team in the planning, scheduling, execution, and controlling of site and heavy civil construction projects.
• Maintain cost factor goals, bid day margins, and contribute to an incident- and injury-free environment at home and on the job.
• Work in accordance with company policies, procedures, and programs.
• Communicate, model, and continuously reinforce company culture and leadership practices with other team members, including Values, Safety, Ethics Policy, and the Collaborative Way.
• Develop work plans and work schedules for production.
• Perform laborer tasks as part of a crew, which may include pipe work, excavation, site cleanup, painting, maintenance, and other crew work.
• Interpret contract plans and specifications.
• Ensure that work performed meets the specified requirements and production standards.
• Document projects through diary entries, photographs, video, inspections, requests for information, reports, and by maintaining various CMiC logs and journals.
• Develop, review, and process necessary submissions and track their status through to final approval.
• Assist in negotiation, pricing, and purchasing of parts, materials, and labor.
• Assist in managing and tracking fabrication and the delivery of required materials.
• Ensure correct cost code charging and invoicing.
• Track quantities of work performed by the company and by subcontractors; provide input into quantities of work to be billed.
• Support the incorporation of safety initiatives, values, and the Home Safe Tonight program.
• Participate on Safe Production Teams as applicable.
• Assist with Daily Written Work Plans and Work Hazard assessments as applicable.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, related major, or equivalent.
• 0–2 years of engineering or construction experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver's license required.

Pay

Salary Range: $70,000 – $85,000, based on experience.
