Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Estimator, Project Manager, and Project Engineers to plan and coordinate all activities required for successful project execution.
- Ensure on-site safety compliance for all personnel in accordance with company safety policies, site-specific safety plans, and OSHA regulations.
- Manage and supervise field personnel, including craft employees, engineers, support staff, and subcontractors.
- Review subcontractors’ daily reports to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and subcontract requirements.
- Document daily project activities, including production updates, delays, conflicts, owner and subcontractor interactions, safety compliance, and environmental or quality concerns.
- Coordinate and ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials, supplies, and tools to prevent project delays.
- Ensure all construction activities are performed in accordance with company policies, contract documents, and project specifications.
- Maintain current project schedules and completion documentation and communicate project status updates regularly to the Project Manager.
- Represent the company during project meetings with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Prepare and maintain reports related to project progress, production, and cost tracking.
- Clock with dispatch personnel to assign workers and resources to construction sites.
- Aid the Project Manager with monthly cost-to-complete analyses and revenue forecasting.
- Travel for work-related purposes up to 95% of the time.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and maintain a safe work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Functions
- This position directly supervises project field personnel and subcontractors.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Experienced leader with strong industry knowledge and the ability to effectively manage employees with diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
- Demonstrated knowledge of project scheduling, subcontract administration, submittals, quality control, and safety management.
- Techinical understanding of civil construction methods, practices, procedures, and field operations.
- Knowledge of construction, architectural, and building industry standards, practices, and procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with employees, customers, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply project plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and adjust priorities and schedules to meet project goals.
- Proficiency with standard business and construction software applications, including HeavyBid, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, and related programs.
- Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong self-motivation and work ethics with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams, including strong follow-up and customer service skills.
- Ability to remain productive and effective in high-pressure work environments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and forecasting skills with the ability to make sound business decisions.
- Ability to actively listen, communicate effectively, and provide high-quality customer service.
- Commitment to conducting business ethically and professionally with customers, vendors, and coworkers.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to travel and work away from home for extended periods of time (approximately 95% of the time).
- Ability to safely and efficiently operate a motor vehicle.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field required; equivalent experience and applicable skills may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in field management within the civil construction industry required.
- OSHA 30 certification required; USACE CQM certification and Resident Management System (RMS) experience preferred.
- Valid state driver’s license and ability to qualify under the Company’s driving policy required.
- Ability to pass a drug, driving, and background screening.
