Field Civil Engineer

Responsibilities

• Interpret and be able to read and understand design and specifications of aspects related to highways, freeways, interchanges, streets, intersections, and multiuse trails
• Prepare, justify, write, and coordinate change orders with the Resident Engineer
• Work under the direction of a Resident Engineer to lead roadway Construction Projects, including:
  • Working with contractors to identify design issues, field design changes, measurements of quantities, RFIs, and project schedule
  • Reviewing and accepting submittals for material certifications
  • Working closely with field inspectors to act as support due to unforeseen circumstances
• Support project managers with client relations, stakeholder coordination, and sub-consultant management
• Take ownership of projects from start to finish, with attention to quality, budget, and schedule
• Interface with coworkers to achieve shared success
• Availability to work onsite days, nights, and weekends while projects are ongoing
• Obtain certifications related to construction engineering management
• Monitor construction contracts
• Manage personnel and budget

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
• Licensed EIT required, PE License a bonus
• 0-2 years of experience in transportation engineering
• Experience working on multidisciplinary project teams
• Solid background in AASHTO roadway geometric design criteria
• Proficiency using Autodesk and/or Bentley civil design software
• Drainage design and/or traffic engineering experience is a plus
• Solid written and oral communication skills
• Self-motivated, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency with MS Office applications
• A desire to grow personally and professionally with each project assignment

Pay

$100,000 - $140,000 / year
