Field Broadcast Engineer

About the role
The Field Broadcast Engineer is responsible for supporting Telemundo Network with remote broadcast capabilities for entertainment, sports, news, and tentpole productions. This role involves operating and maintaining ENG camera, lighting, editing, and audio packages as needed, and managing various disciplines of remote broadcasting, including transmission, audio, video, communications, RF, and IT.
Responsibilities
- Design, integrate, maintain, operate, procure, and assemble “travel-ready” lightweight and streamlined broadcast systems for worldwide deployment.
- Maintain up-to-date paperwork on engineering systems, technical workflows, and client-specific technical solutions.
- Manage inventory of all equipment used by Field Operations and keep associated documentation current.
- Create pack lists and manifests of equipment deployed domestically and internationally.
- Stay updated on the latest technologies and broadcast protocols.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Manager of Field Operations.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience setting up remote broadcasts.
- Working knowledge and experience with:
- Remote broadcast transmission signal flow.
- Audio mixers and microphones.
- Professional camera setup and color matching.
- Remote-to-home-base communications.
- Satellite uplink technology and procedures.
- Radio frequency microphones and transmitters.
- IP networks for use with PCs and streaming video.
- Associate’s degree from an accredited technical school or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience leading and/or managing technical teams.
- Proven knowledge in all aspects of television production format.
Qualifications
- Fluency in English and Spanish (both written and verbal) strongly preferred.
- Experience with Ross Video (Ultrix, Carbonite).
- Ability to troubleshoot in a live television environment.
- Experience with Visio or AutoCAD.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Self-starter who exhibits ownership of assigned tasks and pushes for solutions that solve immediate problems while building toward long-term goals.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Accustomed to working in a team and collaborating with all levels within the organization.
- Strong attention to detail.

Additional Requirements
- This position is full-time and must be performed from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite in the greater Miami, Florida area.
- Willingness to travel with short notice and on weekends, including overnight and/or overseas travel to hazardous or conflict-ridden locations.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including late or last-minute scheduling changes in a 24/7 production environment.
- Availability to work early mornings, evenings, holidays, and weekends as necessary for show production.
