Field Biologists (Field Based)

Responsibilities

• Conduct plant and wildlife surveys across Arizona and New Mexico territory.
• Work independently or with teams in remote locations.
• Perform other special status species surveys and monitoring as needed.
• Follow strict protocols and provide quality data for reports to multiple agencies and clients.
• Collect electronic and handheld GPS data accurately.
• Compile daily reports and survey reports.
• Comply with ERM’s safety program.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 seasons of field biologist survey experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field preferred.
• Burrowing owl, Desert Tortoise, and native plant experience preferred.
• Ability to work safely outdoors in various weather conditions and on challenging terrain.
• Working knowledge of sub-meter accuracy GPS technologies and map interpretation skills.
• Strong attention to detail in documentation of work.
• Effective organizational and communication skills.
• Willingness to work in the field for an extended period and maintain a positive attitude.
• Ability to travel with overnight stays possible.
• Demonstrated independent and effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Fluency in English and Spanish a plus.
