Field Biologist (Field Based)

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-construction nesting bird and other special status species surveys across the project area.
• Monitor construction activities and provide guidance for maintaining compliance with client requirements.
• Coordinate with construction crews and environmental inspectors.
• Perform electronic data collection using handheld devices and sub-meter accurate GPS.
• Collect and compile daily reports and survey reports.
• Ensure compliance with ERM’s rigorous safety program.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of Avian Biology and other Special Status Species experience.
• Familiarity with nesting bird survey protocols and bird identification skills.
• Experience with electric transmission and Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
• Ability to work safely outdoors in variable weather conditions and on challenging terrain.
• Working knowledge of sub-meter accuracy GPS technologies and map interpretation skills.
• Strong attention to detail in documentation of work.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Willingness to work in the field for an extended period and maintain a positive attitude.
• Ability to travel with overnight stays possible.
• Demonstrated independent and effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Qualifications

• Driver's License Required: Valid driver's license and/or ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties.

Pay and Benefits

Annual base pay range: $74,825 – $93,600, $35.97/hr – $45.00/hr USD.

The position is limited-term, non-exempt, and eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed-term/Flexforce employees are NOT bonus eligible).

Benefits eligibility is limited to Regular employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week. Fixed-Term employees (including Flexforce) who are regularly scheduled to work 20 hours a week or more are eligible for a limited benefits package. Casual employees are NOT benefits eligible.
