Field Battery Technician

Duties And Responsibilities

• Travels to customer sites to evaluate, diagnose, and repair customer’s equipment.
• Removes and disassembles cells and inspects parts to detect defects.
• Replaces defective parts, reassembles battery, and fuses lead parts with gas torch.
• Fills cells with acid solution and determines specific gravity of solution.
• Washes, cleans, and neutralizes customer’s batteries at customers location.
• Installs new or modified equipment at customer's facility to ensure full functionality according to specifications.
• Troubleshoot and repairs chargers.
• Provides on-site technical assistance to help troubleshoot and repair equipment.
• Maintains records of performance reports.
• Provides a communication link between the customer and the company to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent Organizational Time Management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft office Suite and similar software.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Maintain effective working relationships with employees, Co-workers, and Managers in other departments.
• Willing to work off-hours as specific needs dictate and willing to assume more responsibility as required.
• Maintain a consistent state of alertness and safe manner to fulfill essential job function.
• Previous customer service experience in field support.
• A basic mechanical aptitude.
• Previous experience working with hand and power tools.
• Able to read and comprehend manuals, procedures, and other written documents written in English.
• Able to solve simple formulas and do basic math.
• Able and willing to travel to customer sites.
• Able and willing to operate a forklift truck.
• Must be able to be insured by Raymond West.
• Able and willing to fulfill essential job function in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.

Education/Experience

• A high school diploma or equivalent; or industry related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2 years breakdown experience or comparable service experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Travel Requirement

• This position will be based in the field and require daily travel within assigned territories.
• Technicians will be provided a company vehicle and company Fuel Card to pay for vehicle expenses.

• The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
• The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and the risk of electrical shock.
• The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration.
• The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud.

Pay Range

The hourly range for this position is $22.90 - $49.40. The specific pay offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location.
