About the role
The WSP Cultural Resources Management Team is seeking On-Call Field Archaeologists for a long-term Phase III archaeological data recovery project at five multi-component Pre-Contact archaeological sites. The positions are available in multiple locations across the United States.
Responsibilities
- Arcaeological test unit and shovel test excavation
- Excavation of cultural features
- Recovery and identification of archaeological artifacts and other materials
- Use archaeological field forms to record archaeological data, including type and number of artifacts, soil color (Munsell) and soil textures, and other relevant information
- Work effectively as part of a team
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
- Strictly abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in anthropology / archaeology or a closely related field
- Archaeological field school or similar archaeological field experience
- Self-motivated, physically able to conduct all aspects of fieldwork in all weather conditions, and be able to follow instructions
Qualifications
- Prior experience with Pre-Contact archaeological sites in Arkansas, eastern Oklahoma, and the surrounding region
- Pre-Contact lithic artifact identification and analysis
