About the role

As a Field Application Scientist (FAS) at Countable Labs, you will be the scientific face of Countable Labs across the West Coast. Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Train new customers on Countable Labs instrumentation, workflows, and applications, ensuring successful onboarding and protocol adherence.
  • Partner with account executives to support pre-sales technical presentations and customer evaluations.
  • Drive customer success, adoption, and early project momentum in collaboration with the commercial team.
  • Work closely with customers to enable early data generation and successful implementation of the Countable PCR platform.
  • Serve as the bridge to Voice of the Customer, providing structured product feedback to inform product improvements and new feature development.
  • Develop, write, and maintain technical documentation, including SOPs, IFUs, and customer-facing training materials.
  • Establish and improve best practices for customer support, including troubleshooting workflows and ticket tracking systems.
  • Troubleshoot experimental challenges across a range of molecular biology applications and sample inputs.
  • Travel up to 75%, primarily focused on the West, with the opportunity to support expanding customer needs across additional regions.
  • Lead and support first customer installations in new regions, including initial deployments in APAC as Countable Labs expands globally.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, or related field (PhD preferred).
  • Strong foundation in molecular biology.
  • Experience with digital PCR and quantitative PCR is a must.
  • Familiarity with PCR assay design, optimization, and experimental workflows.
  • 1-3 years of relevant academic or industry experience in the lab performing qPCR and/or dPCR runs.
  • Strong customer-facing skills with the ability to troubleshoot and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, excellent time management juggling multiple requests at once, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in high pressure environments in front of the customer.
  • Located in the West Coast, SF Bay Area preferred.
