Field Application Engineer
About the role
The Field Application Engineer will work as part of the sales team and collaborate with application engineers and sales team members (reps, RSM, and RVP) to successfully demonstrate and sell our products. This role involves providing technical guidance, managing customer expectations, facilitating Q&A sessions, gathering technical and commercial requirements, and supporting the bid process.
Responsibilities
- Support the Regional Sales Team by providing technical guidance, responding to customer inquiries, and managing customer expectations.
- Facilitate product demonstrations, training sessions, and phone/email support for customers.
- Collaborate with the Application Engineer to prepare quotations and ensure they meet competitive market standards.
- Participate in the Technical Bid Review (TBR) meeting to support the Application Engineer in complex quotations.
- Develop and conduct training sessions for independent sales representatives and customers.
- Work with customers and sales representatives to design and develop custom solutions that balance customer needs with company profitability.
- Prepare technical papers and sales success stories for the G&W Sales Team.
- Host and manage customer visits and attend sales meetings and trade shows.
- Prepare monthly reports detailing opportunities, customer feedback, new requirements, and market insights.
- Manage Customer Change Notifications (CCNs) with customers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (Electrical Engineering degree preferred) from a four-year college or university.
- A minimum of 2-3 years' experience in application engineering or a comparable role.
- Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, and customer management tools.
- Excellent presentation, phone, negotiation, technical writing, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of electric power equipment, including overhead and underground distribution switches, automation solutions, reclosers, distribution and transmission cable accessories, and current limiting system protection devices.
- Extensive experience working with utility, industrial, and EPC engineers in the power industry.

Benefits
Typical pay range is $96,555 - 125,563 annually. Pay is based on candidate skills, experience, and qualifications. This position is eligible for participation in our Quarterly Incentive Pay Program.
