Summary

SRP is seeking a motivated student intern to support our teams while gaining hands-on experience in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. This internship offers students the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects that support SRP’s commitment to delivering reliable, sustainable water and power services.

What You'll Do

  • Support/observe with routine vehicle and equipment inspections, maintenance, and repair activities.
  • Support/observe preventive maintenance tasks, including fluid checks, tire inspections, cleaning, and basic vehicle servicing.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized shop environment.
  • Assist with inventory management, tool organization, and parts handling.
  • Learn and follow safety procedures, shop practices, and operating standards.
  • Perform general labor, cleaning, and support tasks as assigned.
  • Work both inside the maintenance shop and outdoors around vehicles and equipment.

Additional Requirements and Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a college degree-seeking program.
  • Interest in careers in skilled trades, automotive technology, diesel technology, mechanics, or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of automotive systems is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and positive attitude.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment as needed.
  • Ability to work safely in a shop environment and outdoors in various weather conditions.

Pay

The starting hourly rate for this position is $17.50.

Schedule

The Student Intern Program requires participants to work a minimum of 15 hours per week and up to a maximum of 40 hours per week. Scheduled hours may vary based on departmental needs and hiring manager’s discretion, provided hours worked remain within the 15–40 hour weekly range.
