Fiber Technician - Des Monies, IA

About the role

Join Metronet as a Fiber Technician in Des Moines, IA and perform installations, disconnects, and service changes for residential and business customers. You’ll handle high-speed internet and phone services, troubleshoot from the fiber terminal or ONT to consumer devices (modem, wireless devices, etc.), and educate customers on Metronet products.

Responsibilities

• Install and troubleshoot all Metronet services from the terminal to Customer Premise Equipment (CPE).
• Provide in-depth customer education on Metronet products and services.
• Earn commissions by explaining Metronet services and products to customers.
• Maintain professionalism with customers and colleagues.
• Work toward meeting key performance metrics.
• Perform other job-related duties as requested.
• Perform on-call rotation duties after regular business hours.
• Work overtime as needed, including holidays and weekends.
• Travel for training or other business needs.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience with a telecom/fiber company preferred but not required.
• Physical ability to work kneeling or standing for long periods.
• Ability to work in attics, crawl spaces, and adverse weather conditions.
• Ability to climb ladders up to 25 feet with proper safety equipment.
• Able to lift and carry loads up to 75 lbs, including ladders.
• Ability to work with basic hand tools and specialized equipment after training.
• Operate and maintain a company vehicle/equipment safely and professionally.
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
• Willingness to work as a team and independently.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Pay

$20 - $24 per hour.
