Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Fiber Optic Splicer to support data center, hyperscale, indoor, and outdoor fiber optic infrastructure projects. This position is responsible for preparing, splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and documenting fiber optic cable installations while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and productivity. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with fiber optic splicing and testing equipment, be comfortable working in a variety of environments, and possess the ability to read and maintain project documentation, splice schematics, and engineering drawings. Key Responsibilities Perform fusion splicing on loose tube, ribbon, and high-density fiber optic cable, including single-mode and multi-mode fiber.Work with fiber cable counts ranging from 12-count to 6912-count, depending on project requirements.Prepare, clean, secure, route, and organize fiber optic cables within:Splice enclosuresFiber pedestalsFiber panelsFiber traysCabinetsData center and outside plant infrastructureConduct Tier 1 certification testing using OLTS equipment and Tier 2 testing using OTDR equipment.Operate visual fault locators and other fiber testing tools to verify network performance.Troubleshoot and repair fiber optic network issues, including:High-loss eventsBroken fibersCrossed fibersDirty connectorsDocumentation discrepanciesRead, interpret, create, and update:Project drawingsSplice matricesCable schematicsEngineering documentsTest resultsAs-built documentationCoordinate with Foremen, Project Supervisors, Project Managers, customers, and field crews to ensure project success.Maintain accurate daily reports, splice records, test documentation, production notes, equipment logs, and time records.Inspect tools, vehicles, test equipment, and materials before use and report deficiencies promptly.Follow all company, customer, site-specific, and industry safety requirements.Complete required safety training and maintain proper PPE usage at all times.Assist with equipment maintenance, paperwork, filing, and additional project-related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred.Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.Minimum of 2+ years of hands-on experience prepping, splicing, and testing fiber optic cable in one or more of the following environments:Data CentersHyperscale FacilitiesISP NetworksOutside Plant (OSP)Fiber to the Home (FTTH)FTTx DeploymentsIndoor Structured CablingMinimum of 2+ years of experience operating:OTDROLTSVisual Fault Locator (VFL) equipmentStrong understanding of:Fiber optic cable constructionFiber color codesConnector typesSplice trays and enclosuresCable management best practicesAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, splice records, cable schematics, and work prints.Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.Ability to maintain quality, productivity, and safety standards in a fast-paced environment. Physical Requirements Candidates must be able to: Stand for extended periods of time.Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as required.Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.Work at heights and in confined spaces.Work in all weather conditions, including rain, snow, and extreme heat.Accurately identify and distinguish fiber color codes and other color-based labeling systems. Travel Requirements This role requires extensive travel for project assignments, which may last several months or longer. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
