Fiber Cable Technician
About the Role
We are hiring entry-level and above technicians to assist in the construction phase of Data Centers. You will work alongside higher-level technicians and team leads to build out infrastructure, including pulling cable and fiber, learning color codes, terminating fiber, installing cable trays and pathways, and assembling server racks.
Responsibilities
- Pull cable and fiber optic cable
- Learn and apply color codes for cabling
- Punch down and terminate fiber
- Install cable trays, pathways, and server racks
- Drop cable down walls using fish tape or other methods
- Route cable through data center infrastructure
- Perform pre-termination procedures: organize, form, dress, and label cables; determine length and slack
- Suspend and support cable using cable trays, J-hooks, D-rings, bridal rings, and trapezes
- Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cable as required
- Perform fire-stopping procedures on fire walls, install sleeves, and pull cable through sleeves and core penetrations
- Terminate low-voltage devices
- Follow blueprints and adhere to all company, customer, and industry quality and safety standards
- Build out server rows: mount and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic hardware
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
- Fiber experience (installing cable trays, pulling cable/fiber, punch down, termination)
- Experience working with hand tools
- Construction experience following blueprints
- Must be comfortable working at heights
- Punctual and able to work as part of a team
- Flexible with hours; potential for overtime and occasional Saturday work
- Must show up on time; zero tolerance for tardiness
- Steel-toe boots required; basic hand tools are a plus
Skills
- Ability to read and follow blueprints
- Experience with hand and power tools
- Knowledge of cable management and termination procedures
- Understanding of grounding, fire-stopping, and low-voltage device termination
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
Pay
$23.00 - $24.00 per hour.
Schedule
- Teams typically work 4-10 hour days (Monday-Thursday) or 5-10 hour days (Monday-Friday)
- Occasional overtime, including potential Saturday work (never on Sundays)
- Start times may be as early as 6:00 AM
- Daytime work only

- Ongoing construction site with over 2.5 million square feet of data center space
- Multiple trades onsite
- All personal protective equipment (PPE) provided except steel-toe boots
