About the role

The FIB Technician Associate I - Semiconductor Product Validation is responsible for performing SEM/FIB/TEM system operations, preparing samples for experiments, and operating metrology tools.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares samples for experiments, including cleaning samples, mounting/unmounting samples, loading FOUPs, preparing jobs for experimentation, and helping evaluate the performance of process systems.
  • Prepares transmission electron microscope (TEM) lamella samples using Focused Ion Beam (FIB).
  • Optimizes sample preparation procedures and conditions, and identifies cutting locations based on pattern instructions.
  • Operates metrology tools in the FIB & TEM lab to understand cross-section or top-view critical dimensions (CD), perform EDS analysis, capture high-quality images, and identify all patterns of interest.
  • Completes requested jobs under limited supervision after training.
  • Understands the basic principles of Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Focused Ion Beam (FIB), and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM).
  • Performs routine shutdown procedures.
  • Identifies problems, takes tools offline, calls for service, and coordinates instrument repair and maintenance.
  • Orders equipment and supplies, and coordinates with vendors and purchasing.
  • Interfaces with requestors to understand detailed requirements, communicate results, and coordinate with engineering on job request status.

Requirements

Functional Knowledge: Developed proficiency in a range of analytical processes or procedures to carry out assigned tasks.

Business Expertise: Good understanding of how the team integrates with others to achieve objectives.

Leadership: May provide informal guidance and support to junior team members and lead/own a lab project.

Problem Solving: Provides solutions to problems in situations that are atypical or infrequently occurring based on existing precedents or procedures. Creates SOPs where applicable.

Interpersonal Skills: Uses effective communication skills to regularly.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in semiconductor product validation or similar field.

Skills: Proficiency in SEM, FIB, TEM, and metrology tools.
