Feeder Operator - US

About the role

This role is at a large paperboard packaging plant in Harrison that makes cartons and corrugated boxes for other companies to ship and display their products. It's a steady, established manufacturing operation with a full production floor, running multiple shifts, and known in the area as a reliable long term employer.

Responsibilities

• Set up your work area each shift, corrugated, pads, labels, plastic, banding, and other supplies
• Inspect cartons by hand and by eye for gluing and folding defects
• Pack cartons into corrugated cases to customer spec
• Apply case labels and push finished cases through the sealer onto the main line
• Sort flat cartons by layout and pack per spec
• Run a hand pallet jack to move pallets and keep loads at a safe working height
• Sort material by set criteria and help with special sorting projects
• Band finished pallets for staging and shipment
• Feed the gluer to keep the line running
• Flag any quality issue to a supervisor and follow proper hold and segregation steps

Requirements

• Able to stand for a full 8 hour shift
• Basic math skills, and able to read a ruler or tape measure
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Able to obtain a pallet jack or fork truck license
• Able to read written instructions and follow verbal direction

Qualifications

• Prior warehouse, production, or manufacturing experience
• Experience in a corrugated or packaging plant
• Current fork truck certification
• Familiarity with 5S or food safety practices

Skills

• Visual quality inspection, spotting gluing, folding, and carton defects quickly and accurately
• Manual material handling, banding pallets, sorting cartons, moving product by hand
• Machine feeding, keeping a gluer supplied and running without holdups
