About the role

Keep feed production moving efficiently and safely by ensuring every ingredient is received, verified, and handled with precision. As a Feed Mill Receiving Operator, you will unload bulk, liquid, and micro ingredients from trucks and rail cars into the correct storage areas while sampling and verifying materials to maintain strict quality standards. You will help uphold a clean, organized receiving environment and play an important role in supporting safe, reliable feed manufacturing. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, hands-on team player who takes pride in accuracy, safety, and contributing to a high-performing operation.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure trucks are weighed in before unloading and weighed out prior to releasing.
  • Record receiving on appropriate forms, ensuring samples are pulled off each ingredient and properly labeled.
  • Inspect all incoming loads of ingredients to determine if company standards are met as well as facilitate unloading by occasionally using a 15 lb. sledgehammer to remove ingredients.
  • Perform inventory checks on all raw materials bins and report to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Direct all raw material to proper bins/tanks according to assigned receptacle.
  • Sweep and shovel receiving area between deliveries to maintain cleanliness and to avoid ingredient contamination.
  • Assist with general mill housekeeping when time permits or assigned by Mill Manager.
  • Manually operate the rail car pullers in a safe manner.
  • Assist with loading feed trucks and feed manufacturing when needed.

Requirements

  • Reading, writing, and math skills.
  • Preferred: High School or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Mechanical background.
  • Preferred: Ability to operate a forklift.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors

  • Must be able to swing a 15 lb sledgehammer.
  • Exposed to all seasonal weather conditions, significant amounts of airborne dust, and sustained noise levels > 85 db.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able to climb heights up to 120 feet.
  • Must be able to operate a forklift.
  • Must use required protection when maneuvering on feed trucks and rail cars.
  • Frequent exposure to large commercial vehicles including tractors and trailers.

Pay

This position has a base rate of $21-$24 per hour, with opportunities for pay premiums, shift differentials, and overtime where applicable.

Monday through Friday, 5:00am-2:30pm
