City Colleges of Chicago (CCC), the largest community college system in Illinois, is made up of seven colleges and five satellite sites, providing more than 70,000 students each year access to a quality, affordable education. The Federal Work Study Program (FWS) is a federally-funded financial aid program that provides subsidized part-time employment for eligible students to assist with postsecondary financial needs. The program encourages students to gain experience in their prospective fields by placing them in areas aligned with their area of study.
Responsibilities
- Assist at reception desk, greeting students, faculty, and staff entering the office
- Support staff in day-to-day functions of the Wellness Department office
- Provide general office support including filing, faxing, photocopying, and data entry
- Assist with Chicago food pantry operations, including reviewing inventory and interacting with students and outside customers
- Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, filing, and completing spreadsheets
- Adhere to City Colleges of Chicago Customer Services Excellence Standards
Requirements
- Must be 16 years or older with work permit consent and eligible to work in the United States
- Must be actively attending one of the City Colleges of Chicago
- Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hours (pre-credit or credit classes)
- Must be pursuing an approved educational credential, degree, or certificate
- Must have and maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA (waived for first-semester new students)
- Must be in “good standing” with no City Colleges of Chicago academic restrictions
- Must not be a current full- or part-time employee of City Colleges of Chicago
- High School Diploma required or actively pursuing a GED at City Colleges of Chicago
- Knowledge of City Colleges of Chicago
- Excellent oral communication and customer service skills
- Ability to promote a positive role model and favorable public image as a City Colleges of Chicago representative
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, data entry, and strong verbal communication
- Attention to detail
Pay
Student worker rate is $17.05 per hour, in accordance with City Colleges approved salary scale.
