Federal Work Study position in the School of Music Undergraduate Student Services office.
About the role
The Advising Office Assistant supports the daily operations of the SOM Undergraduate Student Services, contributing to a welcoming and efficient environment for students, faculty, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Greet all visitors to the SOM Undergraduate Student Services, directing or aiding guests as needed.
- Perform data entry, scanning, quality checks, filing, and copying of documents.
- Reply to and direct calls and emails, addressing inquiries and messages appropriately and accurately.
- Assist with recruitment activities, such as giving School of Music tours, assembling, and mailing packets.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must have a Federal Work Study award.
- Must be able to work up to 20 hours per week.
Qualifications
- Experience in providing customer service and effective communication.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and PowerPoint.
- Evidence of attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
- Freshman and Sophomores preferred; Juniors encouraged to apply.
- Evidence of success in promoting an environment that advances pluralism, curiosity, viewpoint diversity, open discourse, and the well-being of all.
Pay
$15 an hour.
About the School of Music
Organized within the College of the Arts, the School of Music plays an important role in the academic and cultural life of the University, the College’s Creative Campus initiative, and the community. The School has 40 full-time and nine adjunct faculty, serving approximately 200 graduate and 200 undergraduate music majors. Degree programs include B.A., B.M., M.M., D.M.A., and the Ph.D. in music education, composition, ethnomusicology, and historical musicology. Program emphases include performance, music education, theory, composition, music history and literature, ethnomusicology, conducting, and sacred music. The School of Music is also home to the UF Bands program, including “The Pride of the Sunshine” Gator Marching Band.
