About the role
Vernovis is looking for a Tax Manager who will lead our client’s tax function with a focus on federal tax reporting and oversight of a complex LLC structure, including shareholder distributions. This individual will oversee and develop a team of Tax Analysts, ensure accuracy in reconciliations and reporting, and bring a more analytical, detail-oriented approach to validating tax data. Successful candidates will own end-to-end tax processes, drive timelines, ask critical questions, and provide clear insights and reporting to the Controller.
Responsibilities
- Own and manage the full tax reporting process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Oversee federal tax activities, including complex LLC structures and shareholder distributions
- Review reconciliations and supporting schedules; validate data and investigate discrepancies
- Lead, mentor, and hold accountable a team of 3 Tax Analysts
- Provide light oversight of sales & use tax (team handles day-to-day execution)
- Establish and maintain processes to ensure deadlines and deliverables are met
- Analyze tax data, ask probing questions, and identify risks or inconsistencies
- Communicate findings, updates, and insights to the Controller
Requirements
- 5+ years of tax experience with prior senior or leadership responsibility
- Strong understanding of federal tax, partnerships/LLCs, and shareholder distributions required
- Experience reviewing reconciliations and identifying variances or gaps
- Ability to manage processes, timelines, and team accountability
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and willingness to challenge assumptions
- Effective communicator with the ability to translate findings to leadership
- Public accounting background preferred, but not required
- Exposure to sales & use tax or multi-state environments is a plus
Qualifications
The successful candidate should have a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA certification is preferred but not required.
