Responsibilities
- Decontaminate glassware via sterilization designated as microbial contaminated, discarding waste in accordance with medical/pathological waste (MPW) handling procedures and regulations.
- Provide and distribute MPW-approved receptacles (sharps containers, burn boxes, broken glass containers, autoclave bags, red bags, liquid waste receptacles) to laboratories and designated collection points.
- Collect and remove MPW daily from laboratories and collection points, transporting it to designated autoclave areas in leak-proof, secondary containment.
- Maintain Government laboratory-generated MPW forms documenting waste streams for each receptacle.
- Maintain sufficient materials for packaging MPW in autoclave rooms and cold storage areas.
- Segregate used reagent bottles from other MPW for de-barcoding by Government; segregate hazardous, non-MPW waste for disposal by Government.
- Autoclave MPW per approved Contractor SOPs, storing or disposing of it per sanitary sewer (sink disposal) as specified.
- Receive and process requests for media and bulk solutions; prepare and deliver fresh standard and customized media in various forms (liter containers, tubes, slants, Petri dishes).
- Schedule and coordinate annual preventative maintenance for media preparation equipment (media jets, media claves).
- Perform housekeeping duties to maintain clean and orderly storerooms/media preparation areas, complying with Good Laboratory Practices regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Must complete a favorable background investigation suitable for issuance of a PIV card.
- Prefer favorable Tier 2 Investigation (Public Trust).
Schedule
Work hours shall be between 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, excluding Federal holidays.
