Farmers Market Lead

Primary Objective
The City of Bloomington is seeking an individual to assist with operation of weekly Saturday Bloomington Farmers Market and select special events.

Examples of Duties
Work with Farmers Market Coordinator and staff to set up, operate, and take down weekly Saturday Farmers Markets, Midweek Music and Market events, and Winter Indoor Markets.
Promote programs at the Bloomington Farmers Market.
Maintain positive and fun attitude in welcoming visitors to programs and delivering program information.
Assist with other Special Events as needed.
Represent the City of Bloomington in a positive and professional manner at all times.
Minimum/Desirable Qualifications
High quality communication skills and ability to interact effectively with the public.
Ability to work a varied schedule, including primarily weekends.
Ability to work both independently and with a team.
Attention to detail, punctual, and dependable.
Ability to lift and assist with setup of tables, canopies, and other Farmers Market related items.
Supplemental Information
Position to begin in August, but there is some flexibility in starting date.
10 hours per week on average during market season, with more in summer months.
Most work to take place on Saturdays, with opportunities for additional hours for other events.
Work to take place at Bloomington Civic Plaza, and other locations throughout the city.
INCENTIVES IN 2026
Commitment Bonus - A seasonal employee who works until at least August 9th will receive $100 bonus on their final paycheck.
Referral Bonus - A seasonal employee who refers a new seasonal employee will receive $100 bonus on their final paycheck.
Referral paperwork required within one week of employees start date and both employees must be employed for the entirety of the scheduled season to be eligible.
Ongoing Part-Time employees who are employed for more than 6 months will make contributions to the pension program (PERA) through payroll deductions unless they qualify for one of the exemptions.
Part-Time may receive Paid-time Off (PTO) at rate outlined in employee handbook and eligible for paid parental leave after 6 months of employment.
Temporary/Seasonal employees do not receive benefits outside of Paid-time Off (PTO) at rate outlined in employee handbook.
