Farm Manager

About the role

Big Ridge Farm is a small tree and flower growing operation on a 14 acre in Glenville, NC. The Big Ridge Farm Manager will care for the gardens, orchard, apiary, greenhouse, and grounds of Big Ridge Farm, and support the farm’s work for Big Ridge Mountain Club.

Responsibilities

• Grow dahlias, sunflowers, zinnias, and other cut flowers, and open the garden for cut-your-own sales in summer and fall.
• Grow, sell, and ship tree seedlings.
• Tend the vegetable garden and orchard.
• Keep the bee hives.
• Provide daily care for sheep arriving in spring.
• Produce honey, vegetables, and flowers for club members and for sale.
• Perform regular groundskeeping and site beautification: mowing, paths, beds, and general appearance of the farm.

Qualifications

• Hands‑on experience gardening, growing flowers or vegetables, or keeping grounds.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all seasons and keeping a place looking cared for.
• Reliable, able to work independently, and glad to learn.
• Beekeeping and sheep experience are welcome but not required; you can learn both on the job.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and capable of physically demanding work.

Pay

$22/hour
