About the role

This position assists the Farm Maintenance team with day-to-day operations, ensuring upkeep of facilities and equipment. The role involves hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs across electrical, mechanical, welding, plumbing, and small engine systems. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, as is the ability to work under tight deadlines and multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair facilities, including welding, electrical, ventilation, heating, plumbing, and high-pressure air and water systems.
  • Adhere to company policies, business ethics codes, and all applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Maintain all company facilities, equipment, work areas, and company vehicles.
  • Respond to work orders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Inspect and upkeep facilities and equipment on a routine basis.
  • Repair, replace, and build wooden structures, including pouring concrete pads.
  • Transfer equipment between farms.
  • Address system failures, including lighting, feeding, electrical, environmental control, and heating systems.
  • Maintain and repair security systems, on-site generators, phones, small engines, tractors, wash crew equipment, and other farm machinery.
  • Operate tools and equipment such as bobcats, electric drills, wrenches, and screwdrivers.
  • Report issues with facilities, including climate control, damages, pest infestations, or mishandling of birds to the maintenance supervisor.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of maintenance experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt to high-priority areas, including varied daily hours and on-call availability on nights and weekends on a rotating schedule.
  • Ability to lift in excess of 50 lbs., push/pull up to 50 lbs., bend, squat, grip small objects, and perform repeated actions.
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods on different surfaces, including concrete.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle driving record.
  • Must not own or operate backyard poultry, fowl, or swine operations off duty.
  • Proven problem-solving and change facilitation abilities.
  • Customer-service orientation with strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong communication skills in English (verbal, written, and listening).
  • Ability to read and interpret company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain confidentiality.
  • Energetic, flexible, and determined mindset.

Working Conditions

  • Work requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, and use of numerous tools.
  • Long hours, including weekends, may be required.
  • During summer months, outside temperatures can exceed 100°F for the entire workday.
  • During winter months, outside temperatures can drop below zero for the entire workday.
  • Roads around farms may become muddy, snow-covered, icy, and difficult to navigate after heavy rains or snowfalls.
  • Exposure to loud noise, odors, dust, and gases that may be uncomfortable or hazardous if proper procedures are not followed.

Successful completion of a drug screen, work achievement verification, and motor vehicle driving record check are required.
