Oyster Seed Planting and Husbandry
Repair and maintain farm infrastructure
Operate small and heavy medium machinery such as forklifts, tractors, trucks and boats
Assist with ranch and environmental clean-up; must be compliant with all regulations
Equipment maintenance which includes cleaning of equipment
Equipment and site maintenance which includes regular cleaning of equipment, production facilities, and gear storage yard
Communicate via email and/or verbally with other employees, managers, and guests
Abside by the Hog Island Company rules, policies, and procedures, including safety trainings and meetings, as defined in the Staff Guide
Job Duties
- Report to work in a timely manner and in accordance with the defined schedule
- Communicate via email and/or verbally with other employees, managers, and guests
- Abside by the Hog Island Company rules, policies, and procedures, including safety trainings and meetings, as defined in the Staff Guide
- Perform physical tasks including lifting in excess of 50 lbs, standing for up to 10 hours per day, and lifting up to 50 pounds
- Work in a fast-paced and frequently changing environment
- Work in an environment involving exposure to physical risks such as operating dangerous equipment or working with chemicals
- Work in an environment involving some exposure to extreme elements such as cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises
Requirements
- A willingness to learn and grow
- Teamwork
- An interest in working in an outdoor marine environment in and around Tomales Bay
- Experience or interest in Boat Captain (training will be provided), a plus!
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to operate a forklift (training will be provided)
- Ability to operate power tools (training will be provided)
Physical Demands
- Regularly stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms
- Regularly talk and hear up to 10 hours a day
- Regularly walk on uneven surfaces including boat surfaces and mud flats
- Repeatedly and safely lift and/or move items heavier than fifty (50) pounds
Work Environment
- The noise level in the work environment can be high
- The work environment involves exposure to physical risks such as operating dangerous equipment or working with chemicals
