About the role
Clean and maintain assigned poultry houses and equipment by performing ground labor and assisting equipment operators.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to and maintain sanitation, bio-security, and safety practices.
- Follow defined Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) or Work Instructions (WI) to properly complete tasks.
- Prep houses for clean out:
- Empty feeders.
- Remove all debris.
- Raise and lower, remove, or teardown equipment as necessary.
- Open and close house end doors as needed.
- Strip all litter.
- Scrape cement floors.
- Use designated chemicals to sanitize all floors, walls, slats, and machinery as defined by the SOP/WI.
- Move to assist in other departments as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Work cooperatively with supervisors and coworkers.
- Work in an outside environment with exposure to dust, chemicals, pests, and wildlife.
Requirements
- Work with chemicals, such as detergents and disinfectants.
- Lift and move 50 pounds.
- Routinely work up to 6 days a week, including weekends and holidays.
- Handle and interact with live poultry.
- Work unsupervised and self-motivate.
- Work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shift hours.
- Stand for extended periods of time (6 hours).
- Grip, grasp, or twist using hands and wrists.
- Lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Bend and stoop repetitively throughout the shift.
- Tolerate prolonged exposure to dry and dusty environments.
- Work cooperatively with a team.
- Strong sense of personal responsibility.
