Farm Clean Out Associate
Aviagen Turkeys, Inc. is seeking a dependable, hardworking individual to join our team as a Clean-Out Crew Associate. This hands-on position plays an important role in maintaining clean, safe, and biosecure poultry houses.
About the role
The Clean-Out Crew Associate works as part of a team to clean and sanitize poultry houses and equipment, assist equipment operators, and prepare facilities for continued operation. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys active work, takes pride in completing a job thoroughly, and works well both independently and with a team. The associate may also transport crew members to job sites as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Follow all company sanitation, biosecurity, safety, and animal-welfare practices.
- Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs).
- Perform general labor and assist equipment operators during poultry-house clean-out activities.
- Empty feeders and remove litter, debris, and other materials from poultry houses.
- Scrape and clean concrete floors.
- Raise, lower, remove, disassemble, and reinstall poultry-house equipment as needed.
- Open and close poultry-house end doors as required.
- Use approved detergents, disinfectants, and other designated chemicals to clean and sanitize floors, walls, slats, machinery, and equipment.
- Handle and interact with live poultry when required.
- Drive company vehicles and transport crew members to job sites as assigned.
- Keep assigned work areas, tools, vehicles, and equipment clean and orderly.
- Assist other departments or work locations based on operational needs.
- Work cooperatively with supervisors, coworkers, and other departments.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- A valid driver’s license and willingness to transport crew members to job sites.
- Dependable and responsible approach to attendance, safety, and job performance.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision and as part of a team.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, including SOPs and WIs.
- Willingness to work with approved detergents, disinfectants, and other cleaning chemicals.
- Ability to safely assist with the disassembly, movement, and setup of equipment.
- Poultry, agricultural, equipment, or chemical-handling experience is helpful but not required.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to take responsibility for completing assigned work.
Schedule
- Ability to routinely work up to six days per week based on operational needs.
- Flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
This is an active, physically demanding position. Employees must be able to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods, including six hours or more during a shift.
- Frequently bend, stoop, grip, grasp, and twist using the hands and wrists.
- Repeatedly lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Work indoors and outdoors in hot, cold, damp, wet, dry, and dusty conditions.
- Work around poultry, farm-related odors, cleaning chemicals, machinery, pests, and wildlife.
- Wear required personal protective equipment and follow all applicable safety procedures.
