Farm & Agribusiness Underwriting Specialist
About the role
Mutual of Enumclaw is seeking a Farm & Agribusiness Underwriting Specialist to join their team. This role involves partnering with agency partners and the Sales team to underwrite and grow a profitable book of farm and agribusiness business across an assigned territory. The Underwriter evaluates agricultural operations ranging from smaller farms to more complex agribusiness risks, delivering strong technical underwriting and relationship management.
What You’ll Do
- Underwrite farm and agribusiness risks, including property, liability, equipment, and livestock exposures.
- Assess operational, natural catastrophe, and reinsurance considerations to ensure sound risk selection and pricing.
- Build and maintain strong agency relationships using consultative underwriting and negotiation skills.
- Collaborate with Sales to develop agency business plans and drive profitable growth.
- Analyze submissions, document underwriting decisions, and ensure compliance with regulatory and company guidelines.
- Participate in agency meetings, industry events, and ongoing process improvement initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
- 7+ years of underwriting or related commercial/farm insurance experience.
- Knowledge of agricultural operations, rural markets, and farm risk exposures.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage a territory independently and balance production with profitability.
- Industry designations (CPCU, AFIS, CIC, etc.) preferred.
Location
Location: WA, OR, ID, MT, WY, AZ, or UT and be able to work during our core Pacific Standard Time (PST) business hours.

The hiring range represents Mutual of Enumclaw’s current hiring pay scale for this role. Mutual of Enumclaw reserves the right to modify or update this range any time.
