Family Visitation Specialist-1

About the role

Transports youth and supervises visitation, ensuring the safety of children during transportation and family visits. Develops trust with youth and family members to model positive parenting skills and facilitate constructive interactions.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the safety of youth during transportation and visitation with biological family.
• Transports youth within the service area to and from scheduled visits, prioritizing punctuality.
• Supervises youth and family members during visits to maintain safety and guide positive, appropriate conversations.
• Observes and assesses behaviors, redirecting as needed to support successful visits.
• Maintains organized documentation of visits and transportation, submitting reports within established timelines.
• Communicates with staff regarding case-specific issues.
• Intervenes when necessary to address behavioral violations or safety concerns during visits.
• Responds to short-notice requests for substitute visits, urgent new visits, or additional transportation needs.
• Serves as a role model, reflecting Boys Town’s values and mission in all activities and behaviors.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in youth care or human services required.
• Minimum 21 years of age (applicable to Rhode Island only).
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Ability to provide own transportation (mileage reimbursed) for job-related travel.
• Must meet auto insurance requirements per Boys Town policy and/or State/Local laws.
• Pass an annual Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) check.
• Evening and weekend work hours required.

Skills

• Knowledge of state Vehicle and Driver Safety Guidelines.
• Ability to drive frequently and for extended periods using own vehicle.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements for youth care.
• High level of professionalism and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication skills with a focus on confidentiality.
• Ability to build and sustain trust to facilitate professional relationships.
• Ability to work independently in a collaborative environment, meet deadlines, and multitask while maintaining quality standards.
• Strong decision-making skills in sensitive or critical situations while adhering to procedural and regulatory integrity.
• Strong knowledge of the Boys Town Model.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift car seats and children up to 50 pounds.
• Sufficient agility, endurance, and physical/mental resilience to handle stressful situations.
• Ability to see, hear, speak, and move to monitor youth effectively.
• Duties performed in both indoor and outdoor settings, including exposure to weather conditions and substandard living environments.
• Safe driving in all seasons and weather conditions while transporting youth and families.
