Family Teachers

About the role

We are seeking a team of two individuals to work together as Family Teachers in Omaha, Nebraska. You will share your job as a Family Teacher and provide care and guidance to boys and girls in need.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe and loving family-style living environment
• Provide emotional support and build self-confidence
• Teach critical thinking skills and assist with behavioral problems
• Plan and participate in family activities
• Teach parenting, family, and relationship skills
• Maintain contact with external agencies
• Document youth medical needs and appointments
• Role model Boys Town values and ethical behaviors
• Supervise Assistant Family-Teachers
• Adhere to safety and boundary policies
• Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors

Requirements

• At least 21 years of age
• Valid driver’s license with good record
• Pass MVR Check
• Flexible to work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Pass thorough background check and reference verification
• Obtain CPR and nationally recognized personal restraint model during pre-service training

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Some college credit preferred
• Valid marriage certificate required

Prior Experience

• College credit preferred

Physical Requirements

• Mental acuity and physical strength required
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 30 pounds
• Ability to push and pull at least 80 pounds of force
• Reach overhead, bend, and squat with ease
• Ability to move furniture, climb stairs, cook, play games, maintain grounds, and transport youth
• Outside environmental conditions occasionally, inside conditions frequently
• Constant interruptions, inappropriate behaviors, and potential for verbal and physical threats
