Family Support Worker- Wichita

Pay begins at $19.85 per hour.

About the role

Full-Time position focused on providing safety, stability, and well-being for children and families during the referral period. Delivers culturally competent, strengths-based services aligned with evidence-based practice models.

Responsibilities

• Make decisions based on supervisor guidelines, family preservation procedures, evidence-based practice models, and organizational policies.
• Meet DCF timelines: connect with family within 24 hours of referral, facilitate initial family meeting within 48 hours, complete assessment-based case plan within 20 days, and close cases within 3-6 months.
• Engage and partner with case managers and families to complete assessments.
• Conduct weekly in-home visits to monitor family progress toward case plan goals and assess each child’s safety.
• Assess child safety during every family contact and report suspected child abuse or neglect.
• Provide support and resources in areas such as nutrition, hygiene, household and time management, home and child safety, basic parenting, transportation, problem-solving, and communication.
• Collaborate closely with the Case Manager to deliver services and make decisions about child well-being.
• Stay current on community resources and assist families in obtaining assistance.
• Serve as a liaison with schools to obtain child records, attend conferences, track attendance, and support achievement.
• Act as a liaison with Behavioral Health and Child Placement Agency to support treatment and respite plans.
• Provide transportation as needed to meet program goals and fidelity standards.
• Collect drug screens as required.
• Document case activities and information weekly.
• Appear and testify in court as required.
• Respond promptly to family crisis situations, document incidents, and be available 24/7 to clients.
• Promote and practice teamwork in all activities.
• Foster and maintain professional relationships with families, community partners, and peers.
• Participate in relevant professional development.
• Regularly drive to various DCCCA locations and other business sites as required, day or night.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum two years of relevant experience in behavioral health or children/family services.
• Personal experience with addictions treatment or child welfare preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of diverse cultures, people, and organizations.
• Commitment to the principles of support and advocacy for foster and adoptive families.
• Valid state Driver’s License, in-force automobile liability insurance, and a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets DCCCA’s insurability standards.
• Reliable transportation required.
