About the role

The Family Support Therapist is a key member of the Therapy Services team. This position focuses on providing education, training, and direction to families, clients, and other professionals in areas such as behavior management, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), establishing learning goals, functional analysis of behaviors, and the development of appropriate means of communication.

Responsibilities

• Perform assessments for clients as needed and appropriate
• Develop therapy plans to assist clients in achieving success at home, school, and in the community
• Provide training to parents and staff on the implementation of behavior plans and/or therapy goals
• Maintain and modify therapy treatment plans as necessary
• Train families and professionals in ABA, Positive Behavior Supports, environmental modifications, and other accommodations
• Provide direct therapy sessions for clients in various settings
• Offer consultation and training to area schools and provider agencies on behavior supports
• Support families and help identify appropriate resources for their clients' treatment
• Develop and conduct training series for parents and professionals on autism-related topics
• Assist in the creation of therapy services resource materials
• Provide guidance and direction to LOGAN staff on client behavior, intervention strategies, and program development
• Collaborate with LOGAN community partners, including educational institutions and healthcare providers
• Aid in marketing and promoting the ongoing financial sustainability of the services offered
• Ensure accurate and timely billing for services provided
• Negotiate and manage treatment plans with insurance companies and other funding sources
• Supervise staff members responsible for the BCBA and Social Worker caseloads according to LOGAN's HR policies and procedures
• Maintain positive and respectful relationships with families and adhere to appropriate professional boundaries
• Complete ADOS training program or present proof of ADOS certification and credentialing, if applicable
• Conduct ADOS assessments for clients as needed to maintain updated diagnostics and meet insurance requirements, if credentialed

Qualifications

• In Michigan: Master’s Degree and BCBA credential for a consultation role as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst, or a master’s degree in social work with a License or Limited license in Social Work, or a LPC licensure
• In Indiana: Fully licensed Clinical Social Worker
• Must meet all requirements to serve First Steps Clients in Indiana
• Strong knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities
• Credentialed as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (if working as a BCBA)
• Appropriate state-required licensure to complete and bill for clinical work
• Excellent communication skills with families and other professionals
• Experience developing and delivering training for various audiences
• Ability to sit and use a computer keyboard
• Ability to kneel, bend, and reach during therapy sessions
