Family Support Specialist | Family Coach

At Wellspring Lutheran Services, we're looking for a Family Coach to join our Mercy House program who believes that every family deserves the opportunity to build a brighter future for themselves and their children.

As a Family Coach, you'll work directly with families living in our transitional housing program, helping them navigate challenges, build life skills, achieve personal goals, and move toward greater independence and self-sufficiency. You'll serve as a mentor, advocate, role model, and source of encouragement while helping create a safe and supportive environment where families can thrive. This role is about helping families discover their strengths, celebrate progress, and build the skills and confidence needed for long-term success—helping them move from surviving to thriving.

Responsibilities

• Build supportive relationships with parents and children, helping create an environment where families feel respected, safe, and encouraged.
• Help families develop practical life skills that support long-term independence, including organization, household management, parenting skills, and daily living routines.
• Encourage positive interactions, healthy relationships, and personal accountability while helping families work toward their individual goals.
• Provide guidance and support during challenging moments, helping families navigate obstacles while recognizing and celebrating their accomplishments.
• Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where families can focus on growth, healing, and stability.
• Collaborate with team members and community resources to help families access the support and opportunities they need to move forward.
• Support the daily operations of the home, assist residents through difficult circumstances, and provide encouragement that helps families keep moving forward.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• At least one year of experience working with children, families, or individuals in a helping profession or experience working with homeless individuals/families.
• Strong relationship-building, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• A commitment to working with families experiencing homelessness, housing instability, or other life challenges.
• Sensitivity to diverse cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• The ability to model positive parenting, household management, and organizational skills.

Pay

Hourly $16.83.

Schedule

• Part-time, 15–20 hours per week.
• Day and Afternoon shifts, working hours between 8:00 AM–10:00 PM (4–8 hour shifts).
• Receive your schedule monthly.
• Flexible schedule needed based on program needs; ability to work both weekdays and weekend days as required.
