Family Support Specialist

What We Do

LSI is a human services agency in Iowa with a long history of serving children and families. Our Early Childhood Services provide care, guidance, and education to parents of young children across the state. We connect families to local resources, host support groups, and offer in-home weekly visits.

What You'll Do

• Offer home visits to expectant parents and caregivers of small children
• Provide parenting education, support, and advocacy
• Link parents to resources and promote optimal child health and development
• Problem solve with parents and evaluate family needs and abilities on an ongoing basis
• Assist families in designing individualized support plans and empowering them to achieve their chosen goals
• Participate in a nationwide initiative to empower families to become and remain healthy and strong
• Primary role involves home visits and occasional telephone contact in Black Hawk County

What You'll Need

• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in health or human service-related field or education
• Required: Associate’s degree in health and human service-related field or education and 2 years of experience

• A valid driver's license, auto insurance, a good driving record
• The ability to pass an extensive background check including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, Sex Offender registry, and a criminal history check
