About the Clinic
This clinic is a community-led, team-based medical practice established and operated by the not-for-profit Beaufort Family Health Society (BFHS). Formed in Spring 2022, BFHS aims to open and operate an interdisciplinary family health clinic in Cumberland, BC.

The Society is seeking Primary Care Providers to help build a supportive, inclusive, longitudinal family care clinic. This is an opportunity to influence clinic design and operations. The practice will include six Family Physicians and/or Nurse Practitioners, alongside Allied Health providers as part of a Primary Care Network (PCN).
The clinic is a recently constructed (2020), modern facility with spacious, well-lit exam rooms. It is co-located with a multidisciplinary physiotherapy/chiropractic/wellness centre and a pharmacy.
Services
- Clinically related teaching and research.
- Long-term care (LTC) opportunities to be determined based on practitioner availability and interest.
- Not in-hospital.
- Occasional home visits (e.g., palliative patients).
About the Community
The Village of Cumberland is a vibrant community in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island. It offers a small-town atmosphere while being only a ten-minute commute from urban amenities. Cumberland has a growing population of 3,750 (within a regional population of 72,500) and a younger demographic (median age 39.3) compared to surrounding areas.
Compensation and Incentives
Compensation Type: Clinical Service Contract
Physician Overhead: To be negotiated.
Eligible for additional remuneration under the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA), including:
- Retention Premium: 6.93%
- Retention Flat Fee: $10,517
- Relocation Funding: Up to $15,000
- Recruitment Incentive: Up to $10,000
