Role and Facility Information
A Family Practitioner (FP) position is available at the Alouette Correctional Centre for Women in Maple Ridge, BC. This is a regular, part-time opportunity (2 clinics per week).
What you’ll do
We are looking for a Family Practitioner to help improve access to primary health care and mental health and substance use support for clients in correctional centers. The FP will work alongside other healthcare experts in an inter-professional team to provide quality care.
What you bring
- Eligible for provisional or full licensure with CPSBC
- Certification with the College of Family Physicians, or equivalent, is mandatory
- Experience in working with patients across a broad spectrum of psychiatric illness, substance use disorders, and personality difficulties
- Experience in Correctional Health
- Additional Certification or Training

What we do
As part of the provincial mental health services continuum, BCMHSUS provides specialized, "one-of-a-kind" tertiary mental health and substance use services to adults across the province. These include services located at the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital and six regional clinics, the Red Fish Healing Centre for Mental Health & Addiction, and Heartwood Centre for Women. BCMHSUS also provides provincial leadership for system-wide improvement through health promotion and illness prevention, knowledge exchange, and research and academic teaching.
