About the Role

This full-time position offers an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most. The role involves providing direct care to patients, performing medical histories, evaluating and treating patients, and performing minor surgical procedures. You will work in a dynamic environment supporting humanitarian efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct care to patients.
  • Performs medical histories on patients and completes necessary paperwork.
  • Evaluates and provides care to patients per Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), including medical follow-up, sick call, or walk-ins.
  • Provides emergency and First Aid treatment within Scope of Work until care is transferred to a local healthcare system as appropriate.
  • Performs limited, minor surgical procedures that do not require extensive care, labs, or radiographic studies (e.g., simple suturing of uncomplicated lacerations, incision and drainage of simple cysts).
  • Reviews and reevaluates cases requiring ongoing medical or pharmaceutical attention daily or as necessary.
  • Carries out orders authorized by the physician supervisor.
  • Must be comfortable working with all age groups (0-99).

Requirements

  • Any state license accepted; must be currently licensed in and a member of any State medical board (temporary licenses will not be accepted).
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Primary Care, Family Practice, or Emergency Medicine setting.
  • Must meet continuing education requirements for the State(s) licensed in.
  • Must meet one of the following qualifications:
    • A bachelor's degree from a PA training program certified by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA); or
    • Graduation from a PA training program certified by the ARC-PA and a bachelor’s degree in a health care occupation or a health-related science; or
    • Graduation from a PA training program certified by the ARC-PA and a period of progressively responsible health care experience (e.g., independent duty medical corpsman, licensed practical nurse, medical technologist, or medical technician).
  • Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Must be certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Must have or obtain a BLS (Basic Life Support) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Must not have been convicted of, or pled guilty to, or pled nolo contendere to, or received probation before judgment for any crime other than a minor traffic violation (record must not be expunged).
  • Tier 4 Security Clearance required to start.

Pay

$75 per hour + $4.93 fringe. Housing and a weekly stipend are provided for travelers.

Schedule

Full-time, 36-48 hour work week. Day and night shifts available.
