Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
Position Summary
The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) is responsible for providing comprehensive primary healthcare services to patients across the lifespan. Working collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals, the FNP evaluates, diagnoses, treats, and manages acute and chronic medical conditions while emphasizing preventive care, patient education, and evidence-based practice.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations.
- Assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic illnesses.
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests including laboratory studies, imaging, and other diagnostic procedures.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with state regulations and collaborative practice agreements, when applicable.
Qualifications
- Education: Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner program.
- Licensure: Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license, current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license, current Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC or FNP-C) certification, current DEA registration (or eligible), Illinois Controlled Substance License (if applicable), current BLS certification, ACLS preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand movements for documentation.
- Ability to respond to medical emergencies.
Reports To
The Family Nurse Practitioner is expected to report to the Medical Director, Director of Primary Care, or Supervising Physician (per organizational structure).
