Responsibilities
- Provides highest quality evidenced-based primary medical care to SEARHC patients, including pediatric and obstetrical care and deliveries.
- May be directed to provide services outside of the clinic to meet the patient's needs, such as local long-term care center, Pioneer Home, patient's home, and local schools.
- Guides, consults, and advises SEARHC Advanced Practice Clinicians and provides supervision and practice plan oversight when necessary.
- Documents all patient services in the medical record per medical staff rules and regulations.
- Participates in shared Obstetrics and Pediatric call rotation.
- Participates in SEARHC (and as needed BRH) quality and performance improvement programs.
- Maintains active staff membership at both health care facilities.
- Provides medical education and teaching to visiting medical students and resident physicians.
- Participates in shared evening clinic and/or occasional weekend clinic coverage.
- Participates in ongoing medical education to maintain licensure and board certification.
- May occasionally be called upon to be a consultative liaison to rural health care providers (Angoon, Hoonah, Kake) and may include field visits to remote locations.
- May occasionally be called upon for general hospitalist duties if needed or circumstances arise.
Qualifications
- MD or DO with active/unrestricted Alaska medical license or ability to obtain license.
- Board-certified or board-eligible in Family Medicine.
- Required: BLS, ACLS, ALSO, NRP.
- PREFERRED: PALS, STABLE.

Schedule and Work-Life Balance
- Workweek: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with telemedicine included and four hours of administrative time.
- Call Schedule: Once monthly, 7-day block, participates in shared non-surgical obstetrics call rotation with 24/7 surgical obstetrics backup and 24/7 anesthesia coverage.
- Generous Time Off: 33 days (264 hours) annually, including holidays, and 10 days of CME.
Practice Details
- Clinic facilities: 16 exam spaces with two procedure rooms. One medical assistant per physician, dedicated OB/Primary Care nurse case manager, nurse triage, and nutritionist.
- Ancillary services include Mammogram, CT, DEXA, Ultrasound including ECHO, X-ray, laboratory services, and MRI.
- Procedure opportunities: Women’s health, prenatal, vasectomies, colposcopies, circumcisions, wound care, draining abscesses, and cyst removal.
- Hospital capabilities: Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center, prioritizes patient preferences and personalized birth plan. Offering a holistic approach with relaxation items and techniques to help increase your patients' comfort during your stay. We have 24/7 on-call coverage for anesthesia and cesarean delivery (C-section).
