About the role
To Provide the GME learner with a full scope rural family medicine outpatient practice experience in a multi-physician and nurse practitioner primary care practice, as well as in a remote ER staffed by family medicine physicians in a Critical Access Hospital.

Responsibilities
- Work with a family physician with a special interest in woman’s health who performs IUD insertion/removal, endometrial biopsy, and provides prenatal care.
- Take OB and pediatric call from home with a family physician who performs both services at Northern Light Mayo Hospital.
- Work with a group of family medicine physicians who staff both the ER and provide hospitalist services at Northern Light C.A. Dean Memorial Hospital.
- Perform outpatient dermatology procedures including cryotherapy of warts, skin tags, and actinic keratosis; shave biopsies/excisions of atypical skin lesions; punch biopsies of rashes/skin lesions.
- Other experiences within the rotation are also possible, depending on the interests of the resident.

PGY2 or above

- Mayo Hospital has a hospital-owned house on site and can be used for this rotation.
- There is laundry, common space in the living room and kitchen, and 2 shared bathrooms.
- Others staying there intermittently include locums, traveling nurses, full-time employees on call, and occasional students.
