Duties And Responsibilities

  • Works with the Family Medicine Residency Associate Program Director to communicate and practice CommuniCare's mission and vision among residents.
  • Oversees the recruitment, interviewing, selection, matching, and onboarding of residents for the residency program.
  • Affirms compliance with accreditation requirements by relevant agencies, including site visits.
  • Supervises, evaluates, and observes residents in the continuity clinic to ensure high-quality care.
  • Advises residents on their career and educational goals.
  • Ensures continuous coverage of the resident continuity clinic by coordinating with other faculty members.
  • Participates in various committees such as the Residency Advisory Committee, Clinical Competency Committee, and Program Review Committee.
  • Provides monthly didactic sessions for residents as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Takes call after hours and on weekends on a rotation basis with other providers.
  • Performs patient examinations, diagnoses, treats, and/or refers patients for appropriate specialty care services.
  • Prescribes pharmaceuticals and treatment regimens based on patient assessments.
  • Reviews lab and x-ray reports and makes medical management decisions.
  • Maintains appropriate productivity standards and patient flow.
  • Attains high compliance rates for UDS and HEDIS clinical measures through daily briefs.
  • Provides excellent customer service via various means.
  • Follows departmental and clinic policies, procedures, and objectives.

Job Qualifications

  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited U.S. Medical School (Osteopathic preferred).
  • Current unrestricted license to practice Medicine in the State of Texas.
  • Board certification in Family Medicine or equivalent.
  • Annual continuing medical education as required by the Board specialty.
  • Current DEA and other certificates to legally operate as a practitioner in the State of Texas.
  • Hospital privileges at designated area hospitals if required for specialty.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Strong general computer and organizational skills.
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Instructor-Led by American Heart Association.
