Family Law & Litigation Paralegal

About the role

The practice is primarily focused on family law while also handling criminal and federal criminal defense matters. You'll work closely with attorneys and take meaningful ownership of case support, deadlines, documents, client communication, and the many moving pieces required to keep matters progressing.

Responsibilities

• Support attorneys across a primarily divorce and family law caseload
• Assist with criminal and federal criminal defense matters as needed
• Manage multiple active matters simultaneously while keeping deadlines, documents, correspondence, and next steps organized
• Prepare, review, organize, and maintain pleadings, filings, discovery materials, correspondence, and case documentation
• Track court dates, filing deadlines, discovery deadlines, client deliverables, attorney commitments, and other time-sensitive requirements
• Review documents and case information carefully to identify missing information, inconsistencies, and details requiring attorney attention
• Assist with discovery, including document collection, organization, responses, and production
• Maintain accurate and well-organized electronic case files
• Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients navigating sensitive family and criminal matters
• Coordinate with attorneys, clients, courts, opposing counsel, and other parties to keep cases moving
• Proactively follow up on outstanding documents, information, deadlines, and action items
• Prioritize changing demands without allowing less-visible responsibilities to get lost
• Assist attorneys with preparation for hearings, trials, and other litigation needs
• Navigate Wyoming family law proceedings and court processes with an appropriate level of familiarity
• Work independently in a remote environment while maintaining consistent communication and accountability

Requirements

• Professional paralegal experience within a law firm or comparable legal environment
• Meaningful divorce and family law experience
• Familiarity with Wyoming family law proceedings, court processes, filings, and related procedures
• Exceptional attention to detail and proofreading ability
• Strong organizational and case-management skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple active matters and competing deadlines simultaneously
• Strong written communication and document-preparation skills
• Ability to carefully review detailed information and identify missing information, inconsistencies, or items requiring attorney attention
• Strong calendaring and deadline-management discipline
• Consistent follow-through and personal accountability
• Ability to independently prioritize work without requiring constant reminders
• Professional judgment when handling confidential and sensitive information
• Strong client-service skills and ability to communicate appropriately with people navigating difficult personal situations
• Comfort working independently and productively in a remote environment

• Experience in a small or growing law firm where paralegals take substantial ownership of their cases
• Experience working successfully in a fully remote legal environment

Pay

Base salary of $60,000–$80,000, depending on experience.
